Cast : Rajesh Khanna, Asha Parekh, Pran
Madhavi (Asha Parekh) the bride runs away right at the time when she was to marry Kamal (Rajesth Khanna). But the person Kailash (Pran) whom she believed and loved was with another women a dancer. She realises her fault but it was too late.
Madhavi leaves the house and meets Poonam her old friend.
As fate has it she promises her dying friend Poonam that she will take care of her child and then comes a long turn around in her life. She reads the letter and gets to know the address and the grandfather of the child. She sets out in search of the child's grandfather.
Madhavi lands up in the place where Kamal the hero resides. It was this man who had come to marry her but she had ran away that time. Madhavi meets him and gets to know his story. Her heart feels sorry for him. She comes to know that this was the person who had come as a groom to marry her.
Mahdhavi (Asha Parekh) gets to the house of the child's grandfather Veeranaji. The family starts believing that Madhavi is their daughter-in-law.
Everything goes well. Rajesh Khanna sees Asha Parekh as a widow but still starts loving her. Asha Parekh too starts loving him. But it was not for long when Pran sees Asha. Pran now sees an opportunity to blackmail Asha. Pran is helped by her lover. Veeranaji gets to read the letter of Asha and he gets to know about her. Veeranaji's friend is the only other person who knows this.
Now what will Asha do... will Rajesh still love her... where will she go now. On top of it there is the murder... Pran's lover tries to act as the true daughter-in-law of Veeranaji.
The story ends with a murder and Rajesh Khanna sets out to solve it in a dramtic fashion.
